Telephone Conference Calls
Unlike usual Phone Calls, Telephone Conference Calls enable more than two parties to listen, report on their work and exchange experience.
Conferences can be set up so that the calling party calls the other participants and adds them to the conference (dial out) or the participants dial in to join the conference.

When to use
In some countries, Internet connection is not reliable. Phone Conference Calls are a useful alternitive for across-boundary meetings.
Examples & Stories
is a national statistical information system for food and agriculture. It aims at harmonizing and integrating data on food and agriculture coming from different sources. Regular country contacts are of particular importance to the project in order to discuss the progress of work and giving technical guidance and assistance.
Since internet connection in project countries is not reliable, another solution had to be found to regularly get countries together at one table. The method of of phone conferences was approached with technical guidance from KCTI. That way, focal points from different countries can – under the guidance of the Project Manager, the Regional Officers and IT specialists here in Rome – report on their actual working progress and discuss problems.
Conducting multi-country phone conference calls has become part of the communication routine of CountrySTAT and is highly appreciated by both the team at the Headquarter and the project countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
