TRIZ is the Russian acronym for “Theory of Inventive Problem Solving”. There are elements of this method that can be very useful for identifying blocks, problem solving and for innovation, particularly the reverse brainstorming element.
One of the Liberating Structures documented by Keith McCandless - Keith has focused on using the reverse brainstorming element of TRIZ to help create innovation and particularly how to STOP doing things that are not productive. In the very crowded days of development practitioners, this can be an important step.
There is a great video of Keith McCandless from the CIMIT page http://cimit.typepad.com/cimit_forum_blog/2008/12/triz-unleashing-selforganization.html
